HOW IT ALL BEGAN...
We are two high school students who decided to start this magazine . Being a part of the current education system , we realized that education and knowledge was only restricted to books and examination.
Through this magazine we wanted to show how all the subjects we study are interrelated and not to be studied in isolation , thus the name 'world entwined'. There is magic and excitement behind each combination which we wish to showcase through each of our new issues.
So sit back and enjoy as the pages of this magazine teleport you to the past , propel you to the future and bring you back to your sitting room couch with a thud!

Hi! I’m Juhi. I’m a grade 11 student studying in Canada. Some of my hobbies include reading and writing. I have a passion for mathematics as well.
I am a volunteer Math Mentor with the Learning Buddies Network. I assist one student every term with the basics of mathematics. It is quite fun to see the look on a person’s face when they finally understand something. It is a look I cherish. This is one of the reasons why I will be starting a Math Club in my school in the coming school year. It’ll allow me to help spread my love for mathematics to other students.
Apart from this, I am an executive member of the Student Government at my school. I will be serving as a Co-Treasurer for the year 2020-2021. I am a school representative to the Burnaby District Student Advisory Council (DSAC) as well. This allows me to bring meaningful change into the lives of other students.
This magazine is special to me because I have many friends who love seemingly-contrasting subjects and feel like they have to choose just one as their career. I want them to know that everything we learn is connected. All these subjects are not as different as they seem. I want them to realize that they do not have to choose one thing. They are allowed to be as unique and authentic as they wish to be.
We have both put a ton of time and effort into this magazine and we hope that you see this magazine as something that encourages you to pursue your passions, even if they are non-conventional. Thank you for your love and support!

Hello everyone. I’m Navya, a student of grade 11 in India. I love writing, dancing and baking.
As a child I used to try to recreate my own magical world of fairy dust and pixies after having gorged on Enid Blyton books. In my high school years the writing spree continues. I have undertaken quite a few report writing for start up organizations as summer internship work and am also a regular contributor to my school magazine. This magazine, ‘World Entwined’ further takes this passion forward.
I am a trained Indian classical dancer (Odissi dance) and have performed in various notable competitions, like The International Odissi dance festival, an annual festival held in Odisha, India where my performance got covered and featured on the cover page of the local newspaper.
I strongly advocate education for girl children and am also involved in raising awareness about mental health issues. I am a volunteer at an NGO, in my city, through whom I teach underprivileged children, academic subjects to get them at par with other children their age who attend regular school. I also assist people with mental health issues through an organization called 7Cups.
In the Indian system of education students are supposed to take up pre-designed subject combinations. I strongly feel that it is necessary to expose them and make them aware of the diverse subject combinations available and therefore realize the fun side of academics. This very thought gave birth to this magazine ‘World Entwined’.
The magazine, a labour of love, works around different time zones, work hours and schedules. It is an effort of grueling hours put in. We truly hope that this magazine makes students like us start seeing academics through a different lens, altogether, to take up all the subjects of their choice and not be forced into taking pre designed subject combinations.
Both of us have put in a lot of effort into making this magazine, taking into consideration that some might get inspired to see these subjects as something fascinating and not just mere academic subjects. Hope you like it!
